PNNL's Economic Ripple Effect Across Washington State (2022)
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s $1.24 billion in federal funding for research and development in fiscal year (FY) 2021 not only addresses critical worldwide challenges, but it impacts Washington State’s economic prosperity. PNNL’s total economic output—purchased goods and services and payroll—was $1.81 billion, which translates into supporting more than 7,600 jobs across the state.
