Worm gear mechanism principle | Worm gear design | worm gear mechanism
A worm gear mechanism is the one in which a worm spins over the
periphery of the gear, the threads of worm meshes with the peripheral teeth
of the gear. The motion is executed in the gear which is analogous to the turning of bolt executes axial motion in the connected nut. Worm gear mechanism is used when huge amount of mechanical advantage is required however the driven gear's speed is very low compared to the speed of worm. In this lecture one can learn easily the working principle of worm gear mechanism.
