Edith Mincberg Receives Guardian of the Human Spirit Award
Almost 1,100 people were on hand Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, as Holocaust Museum Houston honored two Holocaust survivors who helped found the Museum and who devoted much of their adult lives to other charities as well as Houston’s 2014 “Guardians of the Human Spirit.”
The Museum’s annual luncheon at the Westin Galleria Houston hotel, 5060 W. Alabama, raised almost $732,000 to support ongoing educational programs that promote awareness of the dangers of prejudice, hatred and apathy against the backdrop of the Holocaust.

The event honored Holocaust survivor Edith Sternlicht Mincberg and her late husband Josef Mincberg. The surprise of the night came as the Museum also presented a new “Siegi Izakson Visionary Award” to prominent Houston philanthropists Lester and Sue Smith for their contributions to the Museum and the community.
