Desert Waters - Spectacular Scenery for Paddle Boarding
@EarthFocusImages
Enjoy the tranquility of paddle boarding and kayaking the desert waters of Lake Powell and the Colorado River. We explore nearby slot canyons and marvel at the spectacular landscapes, wildlife, and night skies.
The Glen Canyon dam was completed in 1963, creating Lake Powell and effectively destroying a unique ecosystem. Glen Canyon became known as "the place no one knew” and America’s “lost national park.” Before it was flooded, Glen Canyon was a majestic desert land of gorges, spires, and cliffs with the Colorado River as its beating heart. Many now regard the dam construction as a failure, because of unanticipated low water flows, sedimentation of the lake, and ongoing effects of climate change. But with the establishment of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, it did create a wonderland of water and desert in spectacular settings that is now enjoyed by millions of visitors. The water provides access to gorgeous canyons and desert landscapes. In this film, we share this desert serenity.
