We embark on a photo adventure through Badlands National Park, a mesmerizing landscape shaped over millions of years. This is the largest mixed grassland prairie remaining in the United States and is a haven for wildlife. It is a photographer's paradise, with new perspectives at every twist and turn of the journey. Add to that the constantly changing skies as a dramatic element, and you have the perfect setting for phenomenal landscape photography. Getting up early and staying late in the evening is essential, however, because that is when the light softens and makes the unique geological formations stand out. Within this beautiful landscape, the prairie ecosystem has a subtle beauty that can only be experienced by getting out in the backcountry, such as the Sage Creek Wilderness area, where there are many opportunities to photograph wildlife and enjoy the solitude.
