From a Research Perspective: Setting Up Surveys - Brenda Hudson

The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI ) is a statewide research partnership
among Indiana University, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame, with goals to improve community health indicators, advance the translation of research to clinical care, and foster research talent statewide by supporting research teams and the stakeholders they serve. They have assisted over 5,000 investigators through 17,000 research service offerings since 2008 and actively use REDCap for a number of their surveys.

The Center for Survey Research (CSR) is a research unit of the IU Research Office that provides state-of-the-art qualitative and quantitative research services. A leader in survey research for over 30 years, they partner with internal and external researchers from diverse substantive areas spanning business, education, and the social and health sciences, as well as collaborators from both nonprofit and for-profit sectors and the government. REDCap is critical to a number of their projects that involve phone surveys.

For this presentation, Brenda Hudson (Director of the Indiana CTSI Recruitment Concierge Service) and Kevin Tharp (Director of CSR Research Technologies) have teamed up to share their experience regarding what to consider when starting a survey. Both emailed surveys and phone surveys will be addressed. Topics will include some best practices, tips & tricks, and common pitfalls, as well as more specific considerations such as those related to eConsent and the use of multimedia. A Q&A session will follow the presentation to allow questions from the audience.
