The pharaoh who would later call himself "Akhenaton" was born Amenhotep IV to King Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye in the 13th century BC. Akhenaton is known best for his support of a single deity, the "Aten", as opposed to the numerous Gods and Goddesses of traditional Egyptian religion. His reign also marked the unusual and unprecedented "Amarna style" of art with exaggerated facial and bodily features that at the same time seemed to attempt to capture more of the subject's natural characteristics rather than the accepted rigid stylized versions of former artists. His reign, unfortunately, was an unwelcome overturning of everything his people believed in, and many attempts were made to erase Akhenaton and his doctrines from history after his death in order to restore Egypt to the way it was under Amenhotep II's rule.

*Akhenaton was the famous father of young King Tutankhamun

*The famous queen Nefertiti was the first wife of Akhenaton.

*This reconstruction was based largely on the combined images of Amenhotep III and his skull, Queen Tiye's image and her known Nubian heritage, and numerous depictions of Akhenaten himself all cast into more "normal" proportions. It can be said here that Akhenaten definitely inherited more of his mother's features than his father.

*This feature is in no way meant to support or refute any preconceived notions about Egyptian history. Any resemblance of this feature which supports such beliefs is purely coincidental.
