Are Hospitality Graduates Finding Jobs? | The Future of Hospitality and Tourism after Covid-19

According to a January 2021 analysis by Tourism Economics, travel spending totaled a mere $679 billion in 2020, an unprecedented 42% annual decline (nearly $500 billion) from 2019. International travel and business travel suffered the sharpest declines due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while leisure trips also stalled throughout the year. But, as the height of the summer quickly approaches, restrictions are lifted, and more people around the world are receiving their COVID-19 vaccines, experts are optimistic that the hospitality and travel industries will see a boom in business. As we begin to transition away from the initial phases of coronavirus crisis management, a big question remains, especially from new graduates who are beginning their professional journeys in the industry: what is next?

In this video, we hear from three recent graduates of Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration about what it was like to graduate into the hospitality industry at one of its lowest points in history. As they continue to pursue their passions in the hotel, restaurant, and travel businesses they share stories of hope, perseverance, and lessons learned over the last year.
