The 37-inch HDPE DR 21 pipe is reduced around 8% as it is pulled through the reduction die. This allows for the clearance of the new HDPE pipe to be pulled through the ductile iron. After the pull is completed and tension on the pipe is released, the HDPE pipe naturally reverts until it is halted by the interior of the host pipe. Per ASTM F3508.
