San Diego has the 2nd Oldest Homeowners in the US

San Diego just ranked as having some of the oldest homeowners in the entire country. 🏡 The average homeowner here is 54 years old—second only to Los Angeles at 55.

Meanwhile, nearly half of all households in San Diego are renters, one of the highest rates in the nation. With home prices at record highs, wages not keeping up, and Prop 13 keeping longtime owners in place, it’s no wonder younger buyers are struggling to break in.

As a dad of two kids, I can’t help but ask—will the next generation even be able to afford to stay in San Diego, let alone buy a home here?
