Few people know that there are animals that eat snow, and such animals that do not, or do only in exceptional cases, when water is almost impossible. It is not surprising, but our wild boars are with such animals. They eat snow only in very harsh winters and in very small portions. Usually, to quench their thirst, they try to get water, even if it is not easy.

A wild boar, a lone male, gnawed a hole in the ice to take a few sips of water.

The video was filmed on the territory of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine in the reserve Sinicheskiy (a part of the Yaromovskiy nature reserve), where hunting is prohibited.

This area is to be included in the ‘Izium Luka’ national park, which is in the process of being created in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine. Only the creation of a national park will help preserve the forests from modern-day massive tree-cutting and protect unique natural systems from destruction.

Мало кто знает, что есть такие животные, которые едят снег, и такие, которые этого не делают или делают только в исключительных случаях, когда воду найти практически невозможно. Как не удивительно, но к таким животным относятся наши дикие кабаны. Снег они едят только в очень суровые зимы и очень маленькими порциями. Обычно, чтобы утолить жажду, они пытаются добыть воду, даже если это и непросто.

Дикий кабан, самец-одиночка, выгрыз отверстие во льду, чтобы сделать несколько глотков воды.

Видео снято на территории природно-заповедного фонда Украины в заказнике Синичинский (входит в Яремовский природный резерват), где охота запрещена.

Данная территория планируется быть включенной в создаваемый в Изюмском районе Харьковской области национальный парк «Изюмская лука». Только создание нацпарка сможет сохранить лесные массивы от современных масштабных рубок и защитить уникальные природные комплексы от уничтожения.
