Excel tables are a powerful feature for organizing and analyzing data efficiently. Here's how to use them:
1. Creating a Table:
Step 1: Select the range of cells you want to include in the table (including headers).
Step 2: Go to the Insert tab on the Ribbon.
Step 3: Click on Table.
Step 4: A dialog box will appear confirming the range. Ensure My table has headers is checked if your data has headers, then click OK.
2. Table Features:
Auto-Expansion: As you enter new data into adjacent cells, the table automatically expands to include them.
Structured References: Formulas will automatically reference table names instead of cell references, making it easier to read and understand.
Filter and Sort: Every header in a table automatically gets drop-down arrows for sorting and filtering.
Design Tab: Once the table is created, a new Table Design tab will appear where you can customize table styles, add/remove totals, etc.
