34028 "Eddystone" - first light test run on the Swanage Railway 10/05/2021

It's been almost 7 years since the echo of 34028's Bulleid whistle has been heard in the Isle of Purbeck. Thankfully, the absence of "Eddystone" has come to an end, as the rebuilt Bulleid light pacific completed its first light test run along the Swanage Railway - looking resplendent on the Dorset branch line.

The first light test run follows a thorough mechanical inspection, weighing, and static steaming to assess the locomotive. The light test run, which allows a shakedown of the locomotive for further mechanical assessment, is the next step in the process of returning 34028 to passenger service. More light running is scheduled, to accumulate mileage before the locomotive is passed as fit for use.
