Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway 27/05/2021

Steam returned to Romney Marsh last month, as the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway welcomed back passenger services to their metals.

Affectionately known as "Kent's Mainline in Miniature", the RH&DR skirts the Kent coast for a 13 mile stretch between Hythe and Dungeness. With the easing of lockdown restrictions, the railway reintroduced passenger services on the 12th of April, working the full length of the line.

With the Spring sun shining, the railway were operating their Blue timetable, consisting of three distinct 'journeys'; two Hythe to Dungeness returns, and a 'Seaside Special' working Romney Sands - Dungeness - Hythe - Dungeness. Passengers are able to choose their journey, though are unable to switch between services - with tickets valid for a particular journey. A mix of traction was on display, with a resident diesel rubbing shoulders with two steam locomotives; No2 "Northern Chief", and No6 "Samson".

Locomotives:
RH&DR Mountain Class - No6 "Samson"
RH&DR Pacific Class - No2 "Northern Chief"
RH&DR Diesel Class - No12 "J. B. Snell"

All footage filmed on Thursday the 27th of May 2021.
