I had never heard Peter Hammill's solo music before but I knew of Van Der Graaf Generator as they toured with Genesis in the early 70s, and later Peter Hammill opened up for Genesis in 1974. So I thought I would try syncing this short film.

Peter performed a folk song style solo set on either piano or guitar, so this helped me to narrow down the songs being played. The biggest challenge was that Peter played at the Troubadour for 6 straight performances (2 each day) so I had to determine which performance was captured on this film.

The audio I used for the sync was T-611, the early February 2nd, 1978 performance, and also his first Southern California appearance. Thanks to Phil Smart, Ilan Segal, and Ivan Steblyuk for their help with source audio and setlists. I did some basic video work, noise clean-up, spot removal, stabilization, and other minor restoration. There was not a lot of light on stage for this solo performance (and many audience members in view) so there was only so much that could be done with the image.
