New Holland Boomer 50 or Deere 4120, Cheap? SCAM!!!

The deal sounded pretty sweet, a New Holland Boomer 50 4wd with loader and low hours for $15,000. The owner is in the military and ready to ship out to Hawaii and he has it priced for fast sale and the last person who tried to buy it couldn't get financing and he's already paid freight, so he's willing to deliver it anywhere for free. In addition, he's running it through an eBay program and if you don't like it, five days from delivery you'll get your money back. How could you go wrong?

Because...there's no tractor, there's no guy in the military, there's no pre-paid freight company and there's no eBay money back guarantee. It's completely a scam. If you get hooked into this mess, you'll be asked to create an account to send money through the Bit Coin system (whatever that is) and when you send it, it's gone forever. The reason I know that's right? A local woman got scammed with the same story, only this time it was a John Deere 4120 she thought she was buying. There have been a lot of these scams go around Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace and they prey on people who are desperately wanting to find a good used tractor. The story sounds legit, and you want to help out the serviceman who is supposedly selling the tractor, but the story, the pictures and everything is bogus.

I responded to the scammer, knowing he would say the tractor was in Omaha (because that's the story). When he told me that, I told him I was in Council Bluffs, which is just across the river, and I wanted to come see the tractor. He told me it was impossible, because it was impounded with the freight company. Pretty soon he knew I wasn't a buyer and the trail went dead.

Bottom line, don't ever put money down on a tractor you can't see. If it seems too good to be true, it is, there ain't no Santa Claus. It's the wild west out there on the old worldwide web, be careful!
