Countertop Transparent Honeycomb Nidacore

The old countertop would not fit back in the boat after the battery upgrade because the old air conditioner was removed and a new refrigerator was added. Because I have been making different parts for the boat out of nidacore with the transparent fiberglass and epoxy finish, I thought the new counter in the back cabin would look nice if I made it the same way.

A word of warning, some countertop epoxies are quickly destroyed by ultraviolet light. The table on the front deck has been trashed by the sun before I was even able to take the boat out once with it there. I will have to try to grind the epoxy off and recoat it in place. If I accidentally grind through the epoxy and into the glass, or if any debris gets stuck in the epoxy as it cures, I will have to saw it off of the boat and start over. If you're determined to use countertop epoxy for anything that will stay outdoors, try using one of the special UV resistant epoxies and make a cover to go over it when not in use. This can save you from severe disappointment.
