Battery Powered Air Conditioner Experiment Part 1

In several previous videos, I assembled a giant battery made out of 16 little U-1 size lawn tractor batteries. They use lithium iron phosphate chemistry and have a capacity of 35 amp hours each.

This time I test the batteries by discharging them, then fully charging them and discharging them again. With a full charge, they ran an air conditioner, a small Alpicool refrigerator and another Alpicool set to be the freezer. Some LED tube lights were also powered for 29 hours. The main purpose of the battery is to run all that stuff through the night with the generator turned off and then recharge during the day. The test showed that the battery has more than enough capacity to do this, and a lot more.

My next issue is how to fully charge the battery during the day. My 75 amp battery charger seems to make considerably more than 75 amps of power. It causes an 80 amp circuit breaker to disconnect after just a few seconds of charging. Instead of being happy that the charger is actually charging faster than it should, I removed it from the boat and bought a different charger that has an adjustment that lets me change the current output. This way I can manually adjust it until the breaker remains closed.
