My Favourite Songwriting Trick!

Everyone from Paul Simon, to Queen, the Beatles, Whitney Houston and George Michael use pauses in their songs, and it's a really great way to make a song more interesting.

This video looks at a few ways that different artists use pauses in their songwriting, analysing how they use them and how well. I also talk about the history of pauses in pop and rock music, and review some of my favourite examples.
