SpaceX Crew-2 reentry from Pine Mountain, Georgia
This was shot from a south facing overlook in FDR State Park, between the Fox Den and Mollyhugger Hills parking lots. The reentry starts above the last street light on the right side of the frame. Usually I am by myself for these events but this time a family showed up about 5 minutes before reentry. The chicken processing plant I reference (Koch Foods located in Pine Mountain Valley) is the complex in the foreground with the white lights.
The splashdown zone was 265 miles to my southwest. The reentry climbed above the horizon starting around 03:25 UTC, eight minutes before splashdown. I'm guessing the distance to the plasma trail is in the 400-500 mile range. Despite the appearance the Dragon spacecraft was traveling more towards me than from right to left.
