Weather balloon bursting at 115,466 feet
This video shows a weather balloon bursting at the end of its flight to gather weather data for the National Weather Service. The burst occurred on 12 June 2022 at 8:55:35pm local time (13 June 2022 at 00:55:35 UTC). Leading up to and following the burst is a montage of several flights at different magnifications. All of the balloons were launched by NWS Atlanta and were carrying the Graw DFM-17 radiosonde.
Equipment used in this video includes a Canon VIXIA HF G50 and a Canon EOS 6D DSLR attached to a Celestron 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with and without a 3x barlow lens.
