Finally, after 30 years (actually 26 years), behind the scene photos of Hilldale 2015 in Back to the Future II (BTTF II).

These never before seen photos (until now, the real October 2015) were taken in April 1989, in El Monte, CA, in the gated community of Arbor Oaks Homeowners Association (NO TRESPASSING!). This is where they filmed the future Hilldale of October 2015.

The entrance of the community is on corner of Gilman Road and Deana Street.

FUN FACTS

Note that the Hilldale they used for BTTF 3 was at a completely different site.

The City of El Monte, CA, is a suburb of Los Angeles, and is about 25 miles from Universal Studios Hollywood, where they filmed the studio portion of the movie such as Hill Valley and the Clock Tower.

The Arbor Oaks HOA was paid $3000 to use the 99 house gated community for two weeks of prep work, shooting, and cleanup. The interior of one of the homes (3793 Oakhurst Street) was actually used for the interior filming of the McFly home. The exterior shots of Hilldale were done on Oakhurst Street and Somerset Street.

A huge crane was used to hold a massive flood light to light up the entire street for night filming.

A forklift was used to “land” the DeLorean when Old Biff returns to Hilldale 2015. That’s why you don't see the back of the DeLorean on the closeup of the landing.

It is rumored that the owners of the house used for the interior shots were paid a high four figure amount.

These homes were built on top of a former golf course built by the Lewis Homes developers in 1988.

Many of the future cars you see in the photos are currently on display at Universal Studios Hollywood.
