VINTAGE VALUES AND RESELLER BARGAINS | ANTIQUE SHOPPING | MALL BARGAINS

I’m gearing up for Florida winter antique show season, so it’s off to one of my favorite Kentucky antique towns! Cadiz offers a cluster of malls and shops featuring vintage, from antique malls to thrift stores.

We take a moment to get oriented in this sweet, walkable 19th century brick downtown, then saunter past the porcine sidewalk denizens to (appropriately enough) Purple Pig Antiques & Artisans. Time is not on our side here, but our quick moment of window shopping rewards us with a huge version of the popular ‘bittersweet’ hobnail swung vases of the 1960s.

Instead, we head next to the Cadiz Antique Mall (where the original YouTuber meetup happened, see playlist) to a place we couldn’t cover when the gang was all here—Cherokee Antique Mall. Cherokee is a reliable source for good quality collectibles, even for resellers who are willing to hunt through the place to find interesting things well priced.

‘Tramp art’ is one of those delightful antique world oxymorons, and we get to see an example of what and why it is. Vintage fashion, a good pre-Prohibition whiskey bottle and some fun finds in a dollar box whet our appetite for deals…and then we find the basement!

A cellar full of fun signs, farm junk, even a Fisher-Price pull toy beckon us to give our full attention in pursuit of items with thrift-store prices, and we’re not disappointed! The 75% off booth coughs up a fun placard that will find its way to a Palm Beach hot spot, and a cute Lefton Easter bunny that would’ve cost more at a thrift store than here!
We do our best, but time keeps slipping into the future, and we have to go before we see all the rest of upstairs…but that’s what the next video will have in store!
