What is Discernment?

To see clearly—to spiritually discern—is to see God, or Existence, in everything. When you see God in everything, life becomes simple. There are no more choices; there is just the simple clarity that guides you through every action, every move, and every word.

There is only One; there is only God, or Existence, or Source if you prefer. Surrender to this One Truth of Life liberates.

You can begin living from the understanding that because everything is One, you cannot truly be a separate, individual component; you are all things and all beings.

Although recognizing that everything is God (including ourselves) is our innate state, we have created and bought into a separate identity concept for so long that it takes practice to peel away the layers of distorted seeing to “get back” to our original, natural state.

One helpful pointer that can strengthen this recognition is the following exercise.

Call Everything by the Same Name

As you go about your day, or at least for a dedicated window of time, start calling everything you notice by the same name: God, Love, Awareness, Source, The One, Life, I AM, Existence, etc. Pick your favorite nectar/name and apply this name to everything, until you begin to intuitively sense the Oneness of it all.

Apply the above pointer earnestly for a few days. You will notice a beautiful change in your perception and a shift in your identity—from a separate individual in a big world, to an integral expression of All That Is. The more you practice, the more the unity will dawn upon you, and the recognition of the truth that never left you will become more and more apparent.
