YUCATAN PENINSULA BY BUS | A silent Mexico travel film featuring EK BALAM, IZAMAL AND CHICHEN ITZA

A Mexico Yucatan Peninsula on a budget backpacking video featuring no talking but lots of Merida, Izamal, Valladolid, Ek Balam, Chichen Itza, collectivos, cerveza, scraggly dogs, Cuba libre and 2nd-class Oriente buses.

I don't know if I preferred the colourful colonial pueblos, the local cantinas, or the historic Mayan ruins while in Yucatan, but if you get a chance to experience any of them, definitely go for it. I'm so glad we travelled around the Yucatan peninsula. It's really beautiful, fun and not that expensive.

I actually got better at speaking Spanish in 10 days here than in any other Spanish-speaking country I've been to, the locals are super patient listeners and really clear speakers. I've forgotten it all now, but all the collectivo and taxi rides shown in this video I was able to haggle a little bit.

I went for a different style in this video, slow and calm, partly because I wanted to and partly because I was still exhausted from shooting an in-depth talky talky talky video while in the USA. I had had enough, I loved it but I don't know how some people do that all year!

This was shot last winter, just before things kicked off. Out of our planned huge North & South America backpacking trip, we managed to get to a few places before having to come home because of you-know-what.
