What is it like to fly Jetstar from Sydney to Tokyo? $300 flight Australia to Japan

This is a really exciting moment in the trip for me. A really long and boring day, but it ends with us finally being able to explore Japan, somewhere I had wanted to see for so long. After 5 days in Tokyo, we bought a two-week Japan Rail pass and hit the Shinkansen. These videos from around Japan will be the end of this series!

We flew with Jetstar from Sydney to Gold Coast, Gold Coast to Tokyo Narita. It was a super budget option for that journey, but I have seen Paris-Tokyo with Aeroflot for cheaper. The flights were on time and the machines to check ourselves in worked fine. The planes are a bit more comfortable than the Jetstar short-haul planes, though I didn't think it was as comfortable as Norwegian. This may just be because it was worse in other ways, like not having movies unless you pay extra.

We found these ticket deals by just checking google flights and Skyscanner all the time.

At the start of the video you can see us walking to the airport - I'd never walked to a flight before but you can save so much money! Sydney metro tickets are about $15 more expensive if you get off at the airport, so we got off at Mascot and walked 25 mins to the airport. I have a few other videos about Australia on a budget:

This video was my attempt to buy in to the Planetube scene. Maybe it's just the algorithm showing me what I want deep down, but it seems Youtubers always have hit "travel" videos that are based in airports and on aeroplanes. These are the places that the best parts of travelling are the least present, so it is a strange obsession. "I THREW A DART" and "I TOOK THE CHEAPEST FLIGHT" videos are everywhere, and perhaps signify a departure from vicarious travel based on character and culture towards corporate consumption attitudes. As you can probably tell I can't explain it well: it's just strange that videos set in such sterile, mass-produced environments do way better than some real adventure videos. Why watch someone eat the factory-sealed microwave dinner with plastic cutlery instead of what food is on offer at the destination city?
