Great information from the video:

Basically, your APC is a vehicle that your troops drive in to do anything in this game, and it can be upgraded to give your lineup an edge in battle.

I will often refer to them as a "car", no idea why but it stuck in my head, so just know car = APC

To get to your APC, they are located on the top of your fortress, click on it and you will see the modify button.

A few things to note right away:
You can have 4 APCs and they are stationed in your garages.
You must unlock the garage to use the ACP
The first is unlocked in the tutorial, the 2nd and 3rd are unlocked as you upgrade your fortress control center at levels 6 and 12. Last the 4 can only be unlocked by becoming VIP level 10.

To get VIP level status you must either get points by buying in-game purchases or by spending diamonds on it. It takes a long to to achieve but it's worth it in the end.

You can also increase the garage level and unlock additional hero spots by completing research.

In the modify section you will see the different car parts:
Engine
Weapon
Armor
Accessory

You also have different types of APCs you can unlock including
Armed Chariot
Plunderer
Iron Fist
New World Protector
Demon Car
Neon Car
Hero Rally

You unlock these care by collecting repair parts from mopping up zombies, but you can only earn 5 per day so it takes a long time.
Your other option is to buy parts and the exchange rate is $1:1 point so most of the cars will cost between $500 to $1000 to unlock

Pro tip: Do not repair the ACP you want as you acquire the parts. Keep the parts in your inventory because you never know when they will come out with a new car and if you spend points on one car but end up wanting another car you can not transfer your repair parts. Keep them in your inventory until you're ready to buy the car.

Each type of car has its special part which gives you different buffs.

All other car parts must be earned in the infinity arena or purchased in the trade center.
Infinite arena:
The game selects 1 faction a day to fight and they max out the hero level to 100.
All your heroes are of the same faction and all level 100
You win by having better skills and gear or by ascending the hero quality higher than your opponents.
They have also added in War Beasts and APCs.
The currency you win can be used to buy APC parts, also you get parts as you win in the arena.

Once you have your parts you can upgrade them. You need the part you want to upgrade and 3 additional parts of the same category and quality.
Parts max out at level 7 where you get an additional buff.

Best parts for which car?
An air-cooled engine allows you to have the most parts added to your car because it has the most energy. This is good for the New World Protector, Iron Fist, and Plunderer.
V engine allows you to max out your luck, good for armed chariot and demon car

Armed chariot will also benefit from the heavy turrent and flame thrower combo because both hit hard in the beginning of the match, pair it with your heytex and casino line.

The New World Protector and Iron Fist will benefit from the throne barrier because it will protect for the whole match and you will use this with the Victoria lineup as she is in the back row.

All cars benefit from First aid, max it out

Basic energy dynamics:
Air-cooled gives you the most energy = the most car parts
V engine gives you more LUK when you use less energy (must be more than 25% spare energy) so you will need to use fewer car parts
