While we still bake a lot of cakes and enjoy them on a regular basis, there was a time when the layer cake reigned supreme among desserts! The introduction of boxed cake mixes helped take the layer cake to something one made for a special occasion to enjoying cake on a regular basis. Transporting and storing these layer cakes could be a challenge, so it's no surprise that many manufacturers offered an array of options to help carry, store and display cakes.
