This camera is hosted and sponsored by the Great Plains Transportation Museum. They display a wide assortment of railroad equipment. The two largest displays are Santa Fe steam locomotive # 3768 and Santa Fe FP45 diesel #93. These locomotives are unique in the GPTM collection in that they represent the last class of passenger locomotives that were built for the Santa Fe in their respective eras. ABOUT THIS LOCATION:
You're watching the BNSF Arkansas City Subdivision, the former AT&SF between Newton, KS to the North and Arkansas City, KS to the South. This portion is owned by the Wichita Terminal Association and dispatched by BNSF. The BNSF Wichita Yard and the UP Cline and Wichita Yards are all about 3 miles to the North. About 1 mile to the South is the South Junction where UP's Enid Sub (former CRI&P) splits off towards Enid OK. Railroads that use these tracks are BNSF, Kansas & Oklahoma (KO), South Kansas & Oklahoma (SKOL) and UP. KO and SKOL are part of WATCO Corp. ​Between Mulvane and Ellinor, KS, the BNSF uses directional running to create a double main where 2 single mains exist. The portion through Wichita is typically for the EB leg, Mulvane to Ellinor. The nearest cross-street is Douglas Ave. and that is at MP 212.3. The area sees roughly 40 trains per day.

The tracks here run compass North-South but are timetable East-West.
