Nagasaki to Kobe to Tokyo - Family Road Trip Across Japan, Episode 18

This is episode 18 of our epic road trip around Japan. In this video we drive to Kobe for Kobe Beef and then on to Tokyo. 2 days and 1200 km. I know, absolute madness. Who would do that? We did.

After coffee at Komekoya Coffee Stands we hit the road on what we though was going to be a 7 hour drive to Kobe. Our "half" way point to Tokyo. Spoiler alert, the drive was longer than 7 hours.

After 10 hours, 6 stops, 3 iced coffees, one huge hot dog we arrived in Kobe. Just in time to find that most of the recommended Kobe beef restaurants had closed for the evening or had stopped taking customers. Oops. We did manage find Restaurant Yazawa though, and we were able try some of Kobe's best Golden Cow standard steak.

We spent the night at the centrally located Kobe Tor Road Sankuru Hotel, in a small but comfortable room. We had another 6 hour drive to Tokyo ahead of us so we stocked up on sandos and pastries and the Isuzu Bakery and had coffee from Lima Coffee Roasters. If that name sounds familiar it is because they have another shop we visited in Takamatsu. Both shops have most excellent coffee. Check out our Naoshima video for Takamatsu's Lima. The drive to Tokyo from Kobe was marginally shorter than the previous day's epic 10 hours. This time we stopped at the fabulous Konan Ninja roadside stop. That's where we met the Youtuber Parman. The dubiously self-proclaimed "most famous Youtuber in Japan". I did try to have a chat with him on video but unfortunately, I pushed stop instead of record and didn't get one second of our chat. I did get a couple of minutes of our feet though. 😂

We arrived in Tokyo late, of course, and went out to find something cheap and local for dinner. We had Tsukemen ramen for a fraction of the cost of the previous night's Kobe steak. Almost most 10 time less in price in fact.

Next time we wander around Tokyo our last stop on our epic family road trip. But in the meantime, I hope you enjoy Episode 18 of our family road trip across Japan.
