Why the Dutch Celebrate Liberation Day on 5 May

Why do the Dutch celebrate Liberation Day on 5 May? The German forces in the Netherlands surrendered to the Allies on May 5, 1945, at Hotel De Wereld in Wageningen.
But actually it was not a real capitulation: it took place the day before in Germany. The capitulation act of May 5 contained the orders given by General Foulkes on behalf of the Allies to General Blaskowitz on behalf of the German forces in the Netherlands. It dictated the rules for the German (and Allied) forces in the Netherlands. Although the conference took place at Hotel De Wereld on May 5, the document was signed a day later in the auditorium of the Wageningen University.
But the document itself read "Wageningen, May 5, 1945" and the capitulation in Germany on the 4th became effective on the 5th. For many years the Dutch have celebrated the liberation from German occupation on May 5. The night before, on May 4, the Netherlands commemorates the victims of the war. As well as the victims of later wars.
