The Siege of Novogeorgievsk (1915) – A Russian Blunder on the Eastern Front of WW1

A forgotten WW1 battle was the Siege of Novogeorgievsk (1915) where the Germans captured the Russian fortress of Novogeorgievsk (now: Modlin Fortress) in Russian-held Poland on the Eastern Front during the First World War. After the successful Central offensive: the Gorlice–Tarnów Offensive the Germans moved towards Warsaw while the Russians were making the Great Retreat.
