UGC-NET June 2024 Cancelled // India Beats SA by 4 Runs
The National Testing Agency's UGC-NET June 2024 exam, held on Tuesday, has been cancelled due to integrity concerns. Conducted in OMR (pen and paper) mode across various cities in two shifts, the exam faced scrutiny after inputs from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre suggested potential compromises. Consequently, the Ministry of Education decided to cancel the examination. A new date will be announced, and the matter has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a detailed investigation.
In a high-scoring match, India triumphed over South Africa by four runs, securing a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. South Africa, initially struggling at 67/3, mounted a strong comeback. Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp each scored centuries, keeping the competition intense. Nandine de Klerk added 28 off 22 balls, pushing the game into the final over. However, Pooja Vastrakar remained composed and clinched a thrilling victory for India. Earlier in the match, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur both hit centuries, propelling India to 325/3. Mandhana scored 136, while Harmanpreet was unbeaten at 103. Their partnership of 171 runs for the third wicket was crucial. For South Africa, Nonkululeko Mlaba stood out among the bowlers, taking 2/51.
