Fuerteventura
is the second largest island of the Canary Archipelago and is located 100 km from the north coast of Africa. Fuerteventura is most known for the lovely weather, long beaches with white sand, turquoise waters, and its dunes, indicating that the island originates from the Sahara Desert.
The island is one of the top destinations in the world for water sports, due to the strong winds and the great climate; every summer the Windsurf and Kitesurf Championship is held and it attracts many lovers of these sports.
The island has two natural parks, Jandia Park in the peninsula to the southwest and Corralejo Natural Park and its dunes to the north.
The giant statues of the Guanche kings near Betancuria and the mummies of Mount Tindaya recall the first occupants of the place, the Guanches.
In the hinterland, we discover small typical villages where it is good to taste majojeros, local goat’s cheese or pejines, small anchovies.
The FV-2 road runs from north to south along the east coast of the island. The Fuerteventura airport, located 5 km from the capital Puerto del Rosario, is mainly used for low-cost international flights.
The island’s four ports, Puerto del Rosario, Morro Jable, Gran Tarajal and Corralejo, provide connections with the other islands of the archipelago and Spain.
The island of Fuerteventura is of remarkable beauty, in fact, UNESCO has declared the whole island as a Biosphere Reserve.

Fuerteventura
è la seconda isola più grande dell’arcipelago delle Canarie e si trova a 100 km dalla costa nord dell’Africa. Fuerteventura è conosciuta per il clima ottimale tutto l'anno, lunghe spiagge con sabbia bianca, acque turchesi e le sue dune, a indicare che l’isola ha avuto origine dal deserto del Sahara.
L’isola è una delle migliori destinazioni al mondo per gli sport acquatici, grazie ai forti venti e del clima fantastico; ogni estate si tiene il campionato di Windsurf e Kitesurf che attira molti amanti di questi sport.
L’isola presenta due parchi naturali, il Parco di Jandia nella penisola a sud-ovest e il Parco naturale di Corralejo e le sue dune a nord.
Le gigantesche statue dei re Guanche vicino a Betancuria e le mummie del monte Tindaya ricordano i primi occupanti del luogo, i Guanci.
Nell’entroterra si trovano piccoli borghi tipici dove è bene assaggiare il majojeros, formaggio di capra locale o le pejines, piccole acciughe.
La strada FV-2 va da nord a sud lungo la costa orientale dell’isola. L’aeroporto di Fuerteventura, situato a 5 km dalla capitale Puerto del Rosario, è utilizzato principalmente per voli internazionali low cost.
I quattro porti dell’isola, Puerto del Rosario, Morro Jable, Gran Tarajal e Corralejo, forniscono collegamenti con le altre isole dell’arcipelago e con la Spagna.
L’isola di Fuerteventura è di straordinaria bellezza infatti, l’UNESCO ha dichiarato l’intera isola Riserva della Biosfera.
