Making Airfield + Invasion Scenes (1944)

Various shots Royal Engineers regiment building an airfield - probably temporary airstrip in France, after D-day. Mechanical diggers, bulldozers and steam rollers shift the earth, sappers then level ground and clear undergrowth. Various shots of RAF (Royal Air Force) Hawker Typhoon fighter on newly built airstrip, having maintenance work done. Good shots RAF men chatting on airstrip. Various shots planes being refuelled, taking off and landing on new airstrip. M/S farmer using horse and plough. M/S pilot being helped out of cockpit of plane, we then see him talking to officer.
Various shots fleet of warship and invasion vessels crossing Channel with blimps flying overhead. We see the craft landing on French beach. They do not appear to be under fire, army equipment is unloaded from vessels.
