Here we go.

This is one of my all time favorite performances of mine. I kind of consider this my first real show. My friend Daniel after the show (he's holding the camera) commented to me that this was the first show where it truly felt like I had an original songwriting style and my influences weren't so obvious. Plus this was like mostly all new songs, an insane time of prolific and consistent creativity for me.

I think songs like Never, Ever and Good Night kind of showed a growth and a sort of relaxing of my songwriting, like they weren't trying too hard to be funny or weird or grab the audience, they are just these nice songs that kind of came out of me easily.

Pumpkin Pirate is an ambitious accordion instrumental that I've never been able to play well, though look out for an amazing full band version coming out soon on an instrumental EP I made this summer!

A Walk In The Swamp was done a few times on guitar, but the true essence of the song is this accordion version. Don't Mention It is a real rare one that was about a very personal and upsetting thing in my life. Joyless was only performed this one time, it was written by a friend of mine and I played it to surprise him, but he was not happy about that. I really only meant it as a nice gesture because I liked the song.

Friendshippity is my nicest, sweetest song, all about those same friends I have mentioned so far here. I would love a nice album version of it one day. Killer Calm was a little guitar instrumental I had written around this time and felt like showing off, much to the confusion of the audience and myself.

Mean To Me is a good example of the "maturing" thing here. I just don't think this song could have existed in the first few shows of mine. Down I Go is very new here too, but a fast and tight version opens my new album that I'm working on.

Yoko Kikuchi (once again) joins me on stage to sing some Sally songs. Third Time's A Charm probably is my for real sweetest song, and was autobiographical at that time. Another Lesson was yet-to-be autobiographical.

A Boy My Age is played yet again, but growing more confident. Never Ever was very new and I remember feeling really good playing it. Give A Shit is that rare song I keep saying is rare but has been in a dozen of these videos. Not Gonna Stop You seemed to be climbing the ranks at this time but then suddenly vanished.

Punch in the Mouth was about a weird brief intense relationship and break-up I had a few months earlier. Later performances are way more intense and fast. Terrible Mistake is another breakthrough for me...the ability to do short, quiet, little emotional songs. I soon started ending every set with it.

Good Night seems like an obvious set closer but I only played it maybe twice. It's got too many lyrics and I could never remember them all. One day I want to end an album with it though. The real set closer is a cover of Rainbow Connection from The Muppet Movie, something that seems overdone now in our YouTube world, but at the time it felt more quirky and novel of a thing to perform.
