Macey’s Story: Neurosurgery to Treat Hydrocephalus
Diagnosed with hydrocephalus before she was born, Macey lived a relatively normal life. However, at age 14, she began experiencing blurry vision, blackouts and headaches and doctors told her that her hydrocephalus had worsened. She would need surgery immediately to alleviate the pressure in her brain. Macey’s parents chose Texas Children’s Hospital for their daughter’s care and the surgery was a great success. She has returned to her daily activities, including her love of singing, and has a bright future ahead of her. To learn more about treatment for hydrocephalus, visit texaschildrens.org/neurosurgery.
