Tropical storm warnings canceled for now but Tampa Bay remains in Eta's cone
Tropical Storm Eta made landfall on Lower Matecumbe Key, Florida as of 11:00 p.m. ET Sunday night.
The storm weakened a bit Monday morning with current winds of 60 mph while moving southwest at 14 mph as of the latest update from the National Hurricane Center.
All tropical storm warnings have been canceled for the Florida peninsula and Keys, excluding the Dry Tortugas.
While Eta moves southwest away from Florida Monday morning, it is expected to move back toward the state by mid-week, where it may still intensify into a Category 1 hurricane.
The latest models project that Eta will then weaken as it moves north into cooler water and pass just offshore of Tampa Bay. This track may change and look for updates to follow.
