Tuesday 4AM tropical weather update: SELA in Eta's cone; dissipation expected before landfall

Tropical Storm Eta is in the SE Gulf of Mexico just north of the western tip of Cuba. It is stationary and will not move much today. It is battling plenty of dry air, but not much wind shear. Eta is sitting over the Loop Current, or current of warmer water coming out of the Caribbean. These features will give Eta a chance to get stronger and be near hurricane intensity by Thursday as it starts moving north. Once it gets into the northern Gulf of Mexico later this week it will fight strong wind shear from a trough/cold front and more dry air. This will weaken the storm to a tropical depression.
