The new Amarok is bigger, more powerful, athletic and charismatic. At first glance it stands out for its more robust design, with the fins above the alloy wheels of up to 21 inches (Adventure version), and the areas around the wheel arches covered in resistant plastic.

This model is offered in eight colors: midnight black, bright blue, light gray, dark gray, clear White, Deep red, bright beige and mid blue.
The new generation of Amarok has a more spacious and functional interior, loaded with technology and with first-class finishes. The increased wheelbase provides more space, especially in the second row of seats. Three very resistant upholstery options are available: fabric (Amarok), Art Velours (Style) and high-quality leather (Aventura). In the Style and Aventura, the driver's and passenger's seats are electrically adjustable and heated.

The interior has been digitized, with a "Digital Cockpit" instrument panel (8.0 inches in the entry-level Amarok and 12 inches in the Style and Aventura variants) and a modern touch screen in tablet format (10 inches in the Amarok and 12.0 inches in the other two versions). Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles incorporates in the Amarok a combination of digital functions and buttons and push/rotary switches configured in an ergonomic and intuitive way.

All Amaroks have climate control, multifunction steering wheel, DAB radio, stereo and rear view camera. In the Adventure version, the navigation system and the Harman Kardon sound system with 10 speakers are standard.
The new Amarok offers a surprisingly spacious and capable cargo bed: the maximum payload has increased from one to 1.16 tonnes. As in the previous model, it has enough space between the wheel arches to side load a euro pallet. The loading platform has fastening rings that can support a load of up to 500 kilograms, each; and has a load support with a protection frame on the rear wall of the cabin and LED lighting.

Additionally, the new Amarok supports a roof load of up to 350kg and has a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, with trailer hitch preparation included as standard.

Standard on the Style and Aventura variants are the longitudinal bars of the roof in silver, the styling bar in steel (in the color of the body in the Amarok Aventura) and the cargo area cover with electric rollover system (which can be opened and closed from the cargo box itself, from inside the vehicle or by remote control using the vehicle key), in addition to the cargo area lining with power outlet

The new Amarok has received "5 stars" in the Euro NCAP test, with high scores in all its sections, thanks to the combination of a robust vehicle body structure and a multitude of state-of-the-art driving assistant systems. The pick-up also has knee airbags. The Amarok's outstanding front and side crash test results were achieved with the combination of Volkswagen's special child-specific seats.

The new Amarok offers up to 20 new driver assistance systems that provide safety and make driving even easier. The entry variant to the range has, as standard, Front Assist emergency braking assistant with pedestrian and cyclist detection system, Lane Assist lane departure warning assistant, multiple collision brake, road sign recognition system. traffic, Light Assist high beam assist, parking assist for the front and rear area with maneuvering brake function. The Style version adds Side Assist lane change assist, Dynamic Light Assist for Matrix LED IQ headlights, rear cross traffic assist, speed limiter and cruise control, and ACC adaptive cruise control. “stop&go”. The Amarok Aventura adds to this equipment the Area View peripheral vision system.

The dimensions of the new Amarok have grown to improve interior space and off-road capability. At 5,350 millimeters, the new Amarok is 96 mm longer than its predecessor. The 3,270 mm wheelbase represents an increase of 173 mm.

The body overhangs are now shorter, giving the new Amarok more defined proportions and greater off-road capability, thanks to better approach angles (30 in front and 23 in the rear). The new model has also gained in wading depth, which goes from 500 to 800 mm. And the 4×4 traction system has a rear differential lock (standard on the Amarok and optional on the Style and Aventura).
