Electric Planer jig - turning a planer into a thicknesser (almost) #woodjigs21

This is my entry for #woodjigs21.

The basic premise of this jig was that I wanted to turn my electric planer into something closer to being a thicknesser. I'd bought this planer when I couldn't find the timber I wanted and had to settle for rough sawn timber, and thought I could plane it to make the timber useful. What I didn't take into account, because I hadn't researched it enough, was that as the planer wasn't wide enough it would leave lines, and that no matter how hard you tried there would still be a lot of sanding left to do. Since that project i've been fixated on looking for a solution, and finding more uses for my planer, so it isn't left on a shelf and forgotten about. I suppose that's what's great about a jig, it can often give a tool more uses that it's original design. I'd like to have a crack at turning it into a jointer at some point too. The jig still needs some refinement, but i'll work on that in time, i'd got a lot of inspiration from another video i'd found that ran the sled along some timber that was held together on threaded rod, making it adjustable, although that might be overkill if I can achieve it with some straight timber, clamps and shims as required.
