DIY Concrete console table
DIY Concrete console table.
I found this on Rogue Engineers youtube page and knew it would work perfectly for some dead space in my kitchen. A perfect place to leave your keys as you walk in the house. I modified the size to suit, and had to get creative with materials. We're not blessed with off the shelf products in NZ like overseas, so I got creative with the concrete as no 'countertop mix' available. I used a bagged mix, added more cement and admixtures to make it more workable, my camera failed to record these parts unfortunately but I can get the details upon request. It came out alright as a first run, but would make slight changes next time around. I didn't put as much time into vibrating out the concrete either, which i'd do more of next time around. It was a similar story for the timber, so I got rough sawn 100x100mm fence posts and planed and sanded until they were acceptable. I've got some ideas on how i'd do this part differently next time too. For a reasonably novice DIY'er, that infrequently does inside projects i'm blown away with how this one ended up, and i'll definitely be giving more projects like this my attention. I've had a smile on my dial every time i've walked past it for the last few days, and you will too!
