Scarlatti Sonatas F minor K 466 E major K 380 Wang

Friday, I attended Yuja Wang's performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No.9 in E-flat major, K 271 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lionel Bringuier. The performance was exquisite and made me wonder why it has taken her so long to get to this composer. However, for one listener, she ruined it all by performing an encore that started with Fazil Say's Jazz Fantasy on Mozart's Turkish March, which I was really enjoying. Then suddenly,Wang switched to later sections of the masterful paraphrase by Arcadi Volodos. It was as though Art Tatum had made an arrangement of music from Carmen and then ended with that of Vladimir Horowitz. It didn't work. It was tasteless and vulgar. However, based upon her performance of the concerto, I look forward to hearing more Mozart played by Yuja Wang. I could find no recordings. Here Wang plays Scarlatti's Sonatas in F minor K.466 and E major K.380.
