STORIES NEAR ISIS | Nas Daily

This video will probably get lots of comments saying: "Be safe."

Don't worry, we're very safe. Doing this in coordination with the Army, so it's okay. We're not risking anything.

There are three reasons why I came to Marawi:

Selfless reasons:

1. Everyone I talk to about the Philippines from home says it's dangerous. It's true, there is real danger here, but it's very limited to THIS area. In Manila, a bulletproof vest is probably a halloween costume. I want, once and for all, to show the dangerous side of the Philippines so you can appreciate how safe the remaining 99% is.

2. I'm the first to admit, I had no idea ISIS had reach to these parts of the world. So it's an educational tour to learn more about the WHY HOW WHAT WHO. And I think many others have no idea what's going on here. The hope is to share this story in a way that doesn't look like a CNN text article.

3. The stories we're finding here are amazing. A guy who saved 64 lives from ISIS?! People who live right near conflict areas? A guy who no longer has access to his home and belongings? All these stories deserve a platform!

Selfish reasons:

1. I want Nas Daily to be less about eye-candy drone shots or silly topics, and more about real life stuff. I find satisfaction in making these videos, and I find boredom in making other videos. So, coming here helps me become a better storyteller.

That's it. Let's hope we find good stories tomorrow.
