Japan After Hiroshima | Nas Daily

It's a new, fresh day here in Hiroshima!

One thing that surprised me the most here is the lack of....hatred. I've been to War Memorials before like the ones in Vietnam, Cuba, and North Korea. Let's just say hatred there is real. At Hiroshima, it's a different story.

It's kind of insane how all it took was 71 years to move on from the deadliest nuclear bomb ever. 71 years. 26,000 days. I come from the Israel/Palestine area. Conflict there is 68 years old and it's still going strong till this very day and no one can see the end of it yet.

This is not a pro-US or anti-US video. Regardless of your stance on the U.S, Japan, Israel or Palestine, the fact that I can eat McDonald's in Hiroshima speaks volumes to how far we have come.

My intention is not to simplify the complexity of this event or WW2. I swear to Allah! Obviously many sides are to blame for this tragedy, but that's the whole point of this memorial. No one is blaming anyone! No one is hating on anyone! Here, there is a real desire for peace. I talked to a couple of survivors to make sure I wasn't missing the big picture, because that would be embarrassing. They seemed to agree.

At the end of our conversation, the survivor told me that "the spirit of Hiroshima is to endure grief, transcend hatred, pursue harmony and prosperity, and yearn for genuine, lasting world peace. Because peace never flows from hate."

I thought that was genuine.
