Carl Jung's Shadow Theory Explained Through Film (Black Swan & Fight Club)

One of the three key maxims of Ancient Greece was "Know Thyself." Easier said than done. Essential aspects of our personalities hide in what Carl Jung coined "the shadow." The shadow makes up the parts of ourselves we try to keep hidden. In this analysis, I explore Fight Club (1999) and Black Swan (2010) and attempt to answer the following questions: What are the dangers of leaving your shadow outside consciousness, and what is the ideal way to recognize the traits that make up your shadow?
