Glory and the Grave | What Paths of Glory is Really About (Film Analysis)

Paths of Glory was the first masterpiece of Stanley Kubrick (The Killing is close). Based on Humphrey Cobb's novel, Kubrick's 1957 movie touches on a variety of wartime themes. In this analysis, I examine how Paths of Glory makes a statement against selfish ambition masked as patriotism and how Paris becomes an ideal for confronting the random suffering of life.
