Over the last year inflation was a hot topic! We've also done a series of videos regarding this topic.
At the moment we are seeing quite high inflation, in comparison to the last 10 years or so. At the same time, we're not seeing mind-blowing inflation.
The big question at the moment is whether inflation will continue or not?
What is inflation actually? We know that inflation is happening because we see prices going up, but is inflation simply this? Usually, we associate inflation with money printing. The Austrian school of economics defines inflation as money printing. However, in my opinion, this is not what most people care for. People are mostly concerned about prices going up, and how will it affect them.
CPI the measure of inflation is the measure of how prices are going up.
Many people inaccurately believe that inflation is caused by money printing. Prices rising is not only driven by money printing. So why prices got higher?
The first reason for prices going up is that the costs go up. The second one is that the demand exceeded the supply.
Shortage of supply is one massive reason why inflation happens. Many people wouldn't agree with this, though.
My belief is that inflation is not going to last much longer.
Here's why:
We had lockdowns, and production dropped massively. At the same time, demand for certain things dropped as well. Less demand caused production to drop even more.
This was extremely obvious with the prices of oil.
After the lockdowns, the demand increased drastically. People want to move, they want to travel and the market unleashed. But the supply can't all of the sudden go to the old levels. This part takes more time and needs to happen incrementally.
However, this unleashed demand is only going to last for a short period of time.
So what can you expect? This period of inflation will also be short-lived. Inflation will run at 5-10%, and over a period of a maximum of 2 years, we will work it out of the system.
Who are we and what do we do?
