The quality of light in Napoli is sublime; a clear, translucent blue, which inspired and gave birth to the series of monumental paintings of rocks along the coastline which are c. 72x48". Castel del'Ovo provided the glimpse of the mediterranean through an old window in the fortress which, according to local legend, was built in one night over an egg by the great holy man and magician Virgil. The still-lifes are painted in the traditional Italian manner and employ saturated colors.
