Strong Seal Cow Needs Rescue

Pelican Point is not only beautiful, it also provides ideal living conditions for our seals with ample space and plenty of fish to keep their tummies full. On mornings like this, when the sun is out early, it is hard to imagine that our seals are under constant threat of getting stuck in any imaginable type of ocean rubbish. In spite of being one of the least populated countries in the world, we have encountered any type of ghost fishing gear, plastic bags, textiles including hats, pants, shirts and bras, packing straps, ropes, gaskets, and even a full soccer net and a toilet seat once. Ghost fishing gear remains our biggest challenge and most common entanglement, and it comes as no surprise that we had to rescue this strong and healthy seal cow from yet another loop of illegally discarded fishing line.
